About Me

A musical self-portrait I painted my senior year of high school

My name is Ruth and I'm currently in my third year of undergraduate study at the University at Buffalo. I'm a Linguistics and English double major and I have an ever-growing number of passions. As I get older, I find new things everyday to be passionate about and it's a thrill that I hope that I can share with you. Some people talk about "finding their passion". I find my passions by living a passionate life. I try to be engaged with life and live every minute to the fullest.

As anybody who has spent more than approximately ten seconds with me, I am more than just a little bit crazy, loud, and off the wall. I have had hot pink hair (just streaks right now), I'm always adding color to my life, and you never know when I'm going to sneeze and someone will ask "Who kicked a small dog?" (Yes, unfortunately, that is an accurate representation of my more-than-slightly obnoxious and easily-identifiable sneeze) On the other hand, I'm prone to bouts of introspection and when those moments hit, I crave nothing more than quiet and solitude.

I get by with a little help from my friends. Every day is an adventure. I am here to live, love, learn, and create. I sing, cook, read, write, bake, paint, hike, explore, discover, embroider, take photographs, make up stories, write poetry, and anything else that makes me happy. I am here to enrich the world.

"You are not here merely to make a living. You are here in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world, and you impoverish yourself if you forget the errand."
-Woodrow Wilson
